Emerald Resort & Casino is turning a young 21 and everyone is invited to the party!

On Saturday 21 September, Emerald Resort & Casino is celebrating 21 years and is thrilled to share this day with all fans, followers, guests, friends and party revellers. Join the Resort as they enjoy a Family Fun Day with free live entertainment from the likes of Die Campbells, legendary South African band Dr Victor & The Rasta Rebels, Piet Pompies and Vernon Muso.

Experience the thrill and exhilaration of the latest motorsport lifestyle event, Emerald Speed Fest. Hear the power and feel the speed at Emerald Resort & Casino from 27 to 29 September 2019.

With up to R500 000 in prizes and R50 000 to Master of the Mile, the Emerald Speed Fest will provide three full days of motoring action to the biggest petrolheads, speed freaks and 120 competitors as high-performance race cars, supercars and modern road-cars compete against the clock on a 1,6km winding asphalt strip.

This year, Emerald Resort & Casino is turning 21! As the celebrations start, Emerald loyalty cardholders get the opportunity to play for a brand-new VW Polo or a fantastic VW Tiguan.

Running until 25 September and being Emerald Resort & Casino’s birthday month, the Birthday Bonanza casino promotion is easy to enter just by earning points. For the first time the Resort’s Diamond cardholders qualify for their own dedicated draws.

Want to know one habit that ultra-successful people have in common? They read. A lot! With this in mind, Emerald Resort & Casino recently hosted an annual school Readathon to give back to the community.

“To assist schools and encourage reading in the local Sedibeng area, the Readathon challenge is aimed at schools from the Vaal District West and East who are selected to participate in the competition,” says Tanuja Gangabishun, Marketing Executive at Emerald Resort & Casino.

During the month of May, schools were selected to participate in the Readathon according to categories: Foundation phase: Grade 1-3, Intermediate phase: Grade 4-6, Senior phase: Grade 7-9 and FET Phase: Grade 10-12. The top four schools were selected from each phase, with the winners each claiming R10 000 for their school to go towards refurbishment or the purchase of school equipment.

“The underlying theme is that if people want to be educated, successful and have a brighter future, their reading skills need to be learnt early in life,” comments Tanuja.

“Many of our local schools require financial assistance and we will have discussions with the principals of the winning schools to determine their most pressing needs and assist with these,” concludes Tanuja. “We enthusiastically support our local community and look forward to creating a brighter and more successful future for the kids and long-term assistance for these institutions that teach the future of our country.”

The annual Vaal River Meander Wine Route is back for its 16^th iteration and kicks off on the 23^rd June 2019. Emerald Resort & Casino’s Breeze restaurant is once again a participating venue where wine experts, connoisseurs, enthusiasts and amateurs can pair selected items from the wine list.

After the official launch on the 22nd of June, the first day of the 6-week long Vaal River Meander Wine Route, starts on Sunday 23 June. During this period, the Wine Route is on every Saturday and Sunday at more than a dozen venues on and around the Vaal River until Sunday, 4 August 2019.

Breeze will be offering a specially designed menu to complement the wines on show. Showcased South African wines will include wines from Bon Courage Estate and Darling Cellars.

Recently announced, Emerald Resort & Casino has been purchased from Caesars Entertainment by Peermont Hotels, Casinos and Resort a dominant hotel player in southern Africa.

“Its exciting news that’s extremely positive for Emerald Resort and Casino – team members and guests,” explains Mark Hands, Resort Director at Emerald Resort & Casino. “What it means for our guests is more options, more rewards and more benefits by being part of a leading gaming and hospitality group in South Africa and Botswana.”

“While Emerald Resort & Casino is a unique property, it receives limited benefit from the Caesars’ Rewards network effect given its remoteness to other properties in our network,” said Tony Rodio, CEO of Caesars Entertainment. “We’re pleased to monetize this non-core asset in our portfolio, which will enable Caesars to sharpen its focus on other strategic markets.”

Peermont considers the acquisition of Emerald Resort to be mutually beneficial as it presents great opportunities for growth and development. An additional benefit of the acquisition is that Emerald Resort will be able to offer a wider range of rewards through Peermont’s Winners Circle loyalty programme.

Caesars Entertainment will continue to operate the property until the transaction closes, which is expected to be in the third quarter of 2019, subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions.
